Here in the city of smart startups, there’s no lack of brilliant goodies that can be delivered directly to your doorstep. Right now, subscription services are all the rage. And we know why. You can snag everything from the latest beauty product sample to some sweet vinyls with just a few clicks online. Looking for your latest subscription addiction? Check out some of our tried-and-tested favorites below.
How often do you wake up in the morning and not know what to wear? How much time do you spend trying on various pairs of jeans before walking out the door in a dress? Planning your outfit the night before actually is possible with Le Tote. The service is the “Netflix for clothes” in the sense that they’ll send you clothing and accessories and you can hold onto them for as long as you like! For $49 a month, the team of stylists at LeTote send you five items per box — three clothing items and two accessories; perfect for scoring a cute new skirt and dress for the weekend, or a new piece of glam to amp up your professional-chic look at work. It’s multiple outfit inspiration in just one box, and you’re able to send the items back in for more as often as you like!
2. Birchbox
There are few things better than regularly receiving skincare and body samples delivered straight to your home. Birchbox is the hallelujah for beauty junkies everywhere. For $10 a month, members are sent beauty and lifestyle samples according to their personal preferences. I’ve discovered, and fallen in love with, products like Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer, Origin’s Charcoal Mask, and Davine’s aptly named LOVE Hair Smoother. Dudes can sign up, too, and score manly things like combs and shaving cream, and cool tech gadgets like headphones and bluetooth speakers.
We love Spotify (and Apple Music, Pandora, and Rdio), but the sweet sound produced from a record player is unmatched. Enter: Vinyl Me, Please. How does it work? For $27 per month, Vinyl Me, Please sends you a featured record of the month, custom cocktail pairing recipe to compliment the listening experience, and an original 12” x 12” art print inspired by the album and printed on heavy cardstock. That’s what’s up.
4. Darby Smart
Who doesn’t love getting their craft on? While this isn’t exactly a subscription service with guaranteed monthly deliveries, the team at Darby Smart sends you DIY projects devised by a community of designers to help you make the things you love. Each box you pick comes equipped with all the materials necessary to complete each project. The cost of each box varies depending on the craft supplies needed, but there’s nothing wildly expensive. Some of our favorite projects have included these metal stamped bracelets, this leather calf hair clutch, and these brass himmeli.

5. Blue Apron
We get that some people love cooking. It can probably be therapeutic? Relaxing, even? We’d be lying if we said every Cutliner loved slaving in the kitchen after work. But, we do all have a shared appreciation for a home-cooked meal — thus, our excitement for Blue Apron. The service delivers fresh and pre-portioned ingredients and recipes to your home every week. Depending on your schedule and how many (lucky) people you need to feed, you can pick plans that deliver between 3 – 4 meals for between $60 and $140 a week. We’d really like to try this summer ciambotta stew. Anyone else?
6. Fabletics
Nothing gets you to the gym faster than a fabulous new outfit. But who has time to find an affordable pair of yoga pants or pay an arm and a leg (no pun intended) for some fancy leggings? Luckily, there’s Fabletics, where you’ll get a complete new gym outfit each month. Created by Kate Hudson, the pieces are stylish and customized based on the quiz you take before becoming a member. Best part is you can get an outfit for just $25 in the first hour you sign up. Score!
7. BarkBox
You’re not the only living and breathing thing in your home that likes to get surprises in the mail, you know. Starting at $19 a month, BarkBox sends your favorite four-legged friend a box of toys, treats, and other surprise goodies each month. Imagine how stoked they’ll be — and how stoked you’ll be when you never run out of treats and toys again! #foreverentertained
Oh, and as if we needed another subscription service… Sock Club is most definitely on our holiday wish list.
